Wow! Sun-baked Grenache at its very best. The most obvious thing about this wine at present is its texture. The fruit will undoubtedly follow (it is very much there but needs a couple of years to come forward). Lots going on here.
Drinking Dates: 2026 to 2036
Cépagement: 98% Grenache, 2% Cinsault (vines planted at La Crau in 1902)
Upbringing: 3 week fermentation in cement vats where it remains for another 10 weeks for malolactic fermentation before being transferred to oak casks for 12 months. Bottled unfiltered
ABV: 14%
Critic review:

'Saturated magenta. Highly perfumed raspberry and cherry liqueur, exotic spice, incense and potpourri aromas are complicated by hints of musky herbs and smoky minerals. Juicy, seamless and energetic on the palate, o!ering pliant red berry, cherry cola, allspice and lavender flavours that show superb definition and back-end lift. Polished, even tannins lend grip to a strikingly long, penetrating finish that echoes the floral and mineral notes. These vines were reportedly planted in 1901 and 1902.' 95/100 (vinous.com)
