Santenay

Santenay produces high quality, mainly red wines (from Pinot Noir) at both village level and throughout its 12 Premier Cru sites with a small amount of white wine (from Chardonnay) too. One of the most southerly appellations in the Côte de Beaune, the reds often have more black fruit character with elegant tannins, especially from Maladières and other sites. White wines generally have more crisp acidity than some of their neighbours.
