Negroamaro

Negroamaro (the name means Black-Black from a hybrid of Italian and Greek - the picture says it all!) is the signature red grape of Italy's sun-soaked Puglia region in the heel of Italy, especially the Salento region. Known for its deep colour and robust character, wines have rich, dark fruit flavours, fairly full-body with smooth tannins and moderate acidity, making them especially food friendly. Usually quite modestly priced, they are the ideal accompaniment to pizza and pasta- the acidity helps them go with anything with tomatoes - and any rustic Italian food. |
