Burgundy is home to the world's greatest Pinot Noir wines and nowhere more so than the Côte de Nuits, the vineyard area centred around Nuits St Georges and surrounding villages. However, the wines here can be fearfully expensive so it is a challenge (one worth facing) to find quality wines at relatively affordable prices. Step up Côte de Nuits Villages, a supposedly lowly appellation capable of greatness.
