Domaine Brusset, Gigondas 2016 'Les Secrets de Montmirail'
£390.00
| Intense, mouth filling but still stylish and elegant wine from the highest parcel of Brusset's vines (indeed, any Gigondas producer's vines) in the heights of the Dentelles de Montmirail, a stunning rock formation which looks like jagged teeth (although 'Dentelles' actually means lacework) just outside the village. Black fruits take the edge over the reds and there is a touch of vanilla spice from the barrels. Good lift from the acidity. Simply (or not so simply) delicious. |

Critic Reviews:
'Brusset's top wine is the 2016 Gigondas Les Secrets de Montmirail, a 60-40 blend of Grenache and Syrah from just three small terraces high in the Dentelles, with the Syrah component aged in wood. It's cedary and vanilla-scented, but those qualities are matched by concentrated black cherries. Full-bodied, plush and loaded with soft tannins, it picks up lovely notes of baking spices, cracked pepper and licorice on the long finish. Ideally, give this a couple of years in the cellar. Some might consider this too modern or international, but it's just so darn delicious' 95/100 (Wine Advocate)
