Mas de Daumas Gassac, Rosé Frizant 2023

£21.00
750ml
Moulin de Gassac's sparkling rosé is a joy. Lovely sweet fruit and lively bubbles. Very fresh and only 12% ABV.
Drinking Dates: 2025 to 2028
Cépagement: 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot, 4% Pinot Noir, 4% Tannat, 2% Petit Verdot, 1% Cabernet Franc, 5% Nebbiolo, Nielluccio and Dolcetto, 5% Georgian, Israeli, Spanish and Greek varieties.
Upbringing: The grapes, from the younger Daumas Gassac vineyards, are harvested by hand and gently pressed. Alcoholic fermentation begins naturally thanks to the indigenous yeasts present on the grape skins. Before fermentation is complete, the wine is placed in a closed pressurized stainless steel tank. The natural CO₂ produced at the end of fermentation remains trapped in the wine, creating fine, elegant bubbles without the addition of sugar or yeast. Filtration and bottling under pressure: the result is an Extra Brut with vibrant fruit and total purity.
ABV: 12%
Critic review:
' Deep glowing crimson. Leathery nose that’s more reminiscent of Syrah than the actual ingredients! Sweet start and very mellow with freshness and tannin only creeping in on the very end. But there certainly is tannin there, and a certain warmth. A rich, spicy cocktail of flavours that has more than a hint of Lebanese red about it. Approachable already but those tannins kick in on the end.' 17/20 (jancisrobinson.com)
