Tasting Notes: Quite similar to the stunning 2006: a soft, forward Burgundian style. Tannins are pitched just right and the acidity holds this together beautifully but it is the fruit that singles this wine out. Very much in the house style.
All wines from this estate | Drinking Dates: 2018 to 2030 | Cépagement: 100% Nebbiolo | Upbringing: Aged two years in large old casks (500 to 3000 litres in capacity) which are blended together before bottling. | ABV: 14.5% | Critic Reviews: 'Aged two years in 500, 1000 and 3,000 l oak casks. This producer has apparently produced Riesling from the 2014 vintage. Pale rust red with orange notes at the rim. Warm, ripe Nebbiolo on the nose with real guts and development. This has come on quite a bit. Quite rich. A certain, not unappealing, vegetal note.' 16.5/20 ( Jancis Robinson MW, jancisrobinson.com)
'Mature-looking mid ruby with orange rim. Closed and balsamic, yet promising. Hints of iron. Surprisingly sweet and ripe strawberry fruit, almost like this was harvested late? Intense fruit-driven finish with vanilla cream hints, integrated acidity and a layer of powdery tannins. Competently made and in need of more age.' 16/20 (jancisrobinson.com) | Food: Duck, lamb, beef stew etc. |
