Tasting Notes: A lovely Ripasso oozing elegance and charm. Red-black fruit and good acidity. More than a hint of Amarone complexity here and some attractiveness sweetness to the fruit to cut through slightly spicy foods such as salami.
All wines from this estate | Drinking Dates: 2018 to 2025 | Cépagement: 85% Corvina and Corvinone, 10% Rondinella, 5% Croatina (vines up to 45 years old, 5ha) | Soil: Stony | Upbringing: Destemmed and crushed prior to a 10-15 day maceration and fermentation in a mix of stainless steel and oak at 23-25 degrees for 8 days. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged 12 months before bottling around the Easter following the harvest. | ABV: 14.5% | Critic Reviews: 'Dark ruby. Full, sweet nose with notes of dried cherry and tealeaves with hints of red bell pepper, vanilla and iron. Reminds a little of Amarone. Dark fruit and passito notes on the palate and quite a bit of acidity making it look slimmer than its stated 14.5%. Very soft, bitter tannins complement the whole. Aged for 12 months in barrique but the oak is almost indiscernible on the palate. Food compatible, which many Ripassos aren’t.' 16.5/20 ( Walter Speller, jancisrobinson.com)
