Tasting Notes: The first of the Premier Cru wines to be bottled and, as such, the one that can be enjoyed from the outset (although it will be at its best in a few years’ time – the excellent 2014 is just coming into its own now). Clos Marole is the most black fruited of the four Premier Cru wines and its earlier bottling means there is not too much wood getting in the way at this stage (the oak will blend into the other wines in time).
All wines from this estate | Drinking Dates: 2022 to 2030+ | Cépagement: 100% Pinot Noir | Upbringing: Grapes are 100% destemmed. After fermentation, wines spend 16 months in assorted oak barrels (Francois Freres). Decidedly non-interventionist winemaking. | ABV: 14% | Critic Reviews: "A ripe and agreeably fresh nose of dark raspberry liqueur introduces rich, round and delicious medium-bodied flavours that possess good complexity where the supporting tannins are well integrated and fully mature on the attractively persistent and mouth coating finish." 91/100 (Allen Meadows, Burghound) |
