Tasting Notes: I visited Dominique and Baptiste Grangeon with an old friend who had not tasted their wines before. One sip of the 2007 brought to his face one of the biggest smiles I have seen. The fruit is sweet and pure, 90% of it Grenache. Faultless!
| Drinking Dates: 2014 to 2027 | Cépagement: 90% Grenache, 10% Syrah | Soil: Clay and sandy soils | Upbringing: Aged in cement tanks | ABV: 15% | Critic Reviews: "Their 2007s are spectacular wines... It has a dense ruby/purple colour and a brilliant nose of blue and black fruits., camphor, liquorice as well as incense and white flowers. It is ripe, full-bodied with superb fruit freshness and purity and, overall, a full-bodied equilibrium that is extremely vibrant and fresh." 92/100 ( Wine Advocate)
"The dense ruby/purple 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape (90% Grenache and 10% Syrah) is very sexy and rich, with a beautiful nose of blueberry, blackberry, charcoal, and tapenade. Fabulously concentrated, with silky tannins and a layered, rich mouthfeel, this stunning effort is already irresistible, and should drink well for a decade or more." 90/100 (Parker) |
