Tasting Notes: Rounding up a fantastic decade, this 2020 is a forward cuvee, already showing itself to be in the top league of Gigondas. Very complex with excellent mouthfeel.
All wines from this estate | Drinking Dates: 2022 to 2030 | Cépagement: 50% Grenache, 25% Mourvèdre, 25% Syrah (50-year-old vines) | Soil: Clay and rock, below the great Jurassic calcareous ridge of the Dentelles de Montmirail on small terraces | Upbringing: Hand-picked, severe selection, crushing, destalking, cold pre-fermentation and separate fermentation for each variety for 21 days with pigeage and temperature control. Aged in 100% oak casks, around 40% new. | ABV: 14% | Critic Reviews: 'I loved the 2020 Gigondas Le Grand Montmirail. This classic Gigondas offers up loads of peppery herb, garrigue, chalky mineral and both red and blue fruits on the nose. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it's elegant, has ripe yet building tannins and a great finish.' 91/100 (Jeb Dunnock) |
