Tasting Notes: A noticeable step-up from Les Claux with beguiling sweet fruit and excellent balance of fruit extraction with fine structural support and a wonderfully smooth texture. Very forward but better with a few years' ageing.
All wines from this estate | Drinking Dates: 2018 to 2030 | Cépagement: 80% Grenache, 10% Mourvèdre, 6% Syrah, 2% Counoise, 2% Cinsault (65-year-old vines) | Upbringing: 3 week fermentation in cement vats where it remains for another 10 weeks for malolactic fermentation before being transferred to oak casks for 12 months. Bottled unfiltered. | ABV: 14.5% | Critic Reviews: "Tasted blind. Dark - heady and sweet on the nose. A bit brûlée and with lots of ripe fruit. An interesting wine with savour. Sappy and appetising. Very smooth-textured. Cool finish." 17.5/20 ( Jancis Robinson MW)
'Black fruits, charcoal, roasted herbs and pepper all reluctantly emerge from the glass, and it's structured, medium to full-bodied, and concentrated. Tight and closed, it needs 3-4 years of cellaring, yet has tons of potential. 93/100 (Jeb Dunnock) |
