Tasting Notes:
This is exceptionally ripe Mourvedre (which forms 70% of the wine along with 20% Grenache and 10% Syrah): intense black fruit and whiffs of new oak which follows through to the palate. It will undoubtedly need time although I have enjoyed a bottle of the 2007 after 3-4 hours in a jug to soften the tannins. Exceptional.
Drinking Dates:
2015 to 2025
Cépagement:
70% Mourvedre, 20% Grenache, 10% Syrah
Upbringing:
3 week fermentation in cement vats where it remains for another 10 weeks for malolactic fermentation before being transferred to oak casks for 12 months. Bottled unfiltered
ABV:
14%
Critic Reviews:
"Potentially as stunning as its 2007 counterpart, the inky purple 2009 offers up sweet aromas of blueberries, blackberries, creosote, tree bark and charcoal. It is a dense, formidably endowed, deep concentrated wine that possesses plenty of Provencal typicity as well as enormous power and potential." 94+/100 (Wine Advocate)
