Tasting Notes: Named after a former owner of the estate, their flagship Banyuls has a most intriguing nose and palate, slightly sour-edged with prune, dried fruit and gingerbread aromas and coffee and walnut on the finish. Good rancio style. Delicious.
All wines from this estate | Drinking Dates: 2020 to 2030 | Cépagement: 90 % Grenache Noir, 10 % Grenache Gris. | Soil: Schist | Upbringing: When about 80 g/l of residual sugar is left over, the wine is muted with pure alcohol (99 % vol.). The wine is then matured, half in a 30 hl cask and half in glass demijohns left out in the sun to provoke oxidation, and therefore quicker ageing.
50% of this wine is aged outdoors in demijohns for 12 months to develop its oxidative character, the rest in the winery. | ABV: 17% | Food: Chocolate |
