The Avignon FestivalActors and musicians flock to the city every year in July to perform to audiences from all over the world. Whilst French is inevitably the main language, some groups perform in several languages. We saw an amazing production of the Odyssey a few years ago in which different characters, not inappropriately, spoke different languages. Anyone without the time or language skills to sit through a performance may well agree that one of the most fun aspects of the Festival is sitting in a bar in the centre of town, watching performers milling around enticing their audiences to come to their shows.
