The Cantina was founded in San Pietro Vernotico, between Brindisi and Lecce, in 1952 - hence the name of the Brindisi Riserva - and has distinguished itself as one of the best names among the many in the region. Traditional methods including the cultivating technique of "alberello pugliese" are employed over 190 hectares of indigenous varieties including Negroamaro, Primitivo and Malvasia as well as some non-native grapes. Wines have all the power you would expect from this region but with more elegance and refinement than most.

Close to the Primitivo di Manduria DOC, San Pietro Vernotico is surrounded by vines and olive groves. However, there is no apparent river nearby; rather, the town and vineyards are built on top of a network of caves with underground rivers irrigating the area, keeping the ground sufficiently moist throughout the area's annual 300 days of sunshine. This fertile land is farmed carefully to prevent over-alcoholisation and high yields of dilute wines. Sampietrana's farmers certainly succeed with this.
