Tasting Notes: A true Rancio but, unusually, made from Muscat. It has a distinctly grapey Muscat nose, sweet and, perhaps, slightly nutty but then on the palate, the rancio effect kicks in: the wine is, unexpectedly, almost completely dry. Lots going on here (I won't spoil it by telling you what to expect) and for a very long time. If you are at all curious about wine, this is one to try! | Drinking Dates: 2011 to 2030 | Cépagement: 100% Muscat à Petit Grains | Upbringing: An experimental cuvee fermented and aged with more oxygen present than is generally considered sensible with just the fortifying grape spirit to hold it together during its ageing in a two year-old oak barrel. |
